Brandon Patrick Hagopian, 36, of Granite City, IL died on Sunday, May 30, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born on October 2, 1984 in Maryville, IL to Dennis Hagopian, Sr and Patsy (Whittenburg) Hagopian.
Brandon worked in the tree service and construction industries. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. His great joy in life was his children.
Brandon is survived by his parents; a daughter, Briley Hagopian of Granite City; a son, Brandon Hagopian, Jr of Granite City; a brother, Dennis Hagopian, Jr of Granite City; 5 sisters: Denise Hagopian of Granite City, Sheila (Glen) Simpson of Granite City, Belinda Hagopian of Granite City, Amber Hagopian of Granite City and April Hagopian of Granite City and his maternal grandfather, Verlon Whittenburg of Granite City. Also surviving is his special aunt, Sharon Medley of Bone Cave, TN; cousin, Jennifer Medley, whom he shared a special bond; a nephew, Brett (Kristin) Hagopian and numerous nieces and nephews.
Brandon is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Wilma Dameron and paternal grandparents, Jean and Zarzand Hagopian.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 at Wojstrom Funeral Home & Crematory in Granite City, IL. Burial will follow at St John Cemetery in Granite City, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Ailene C. Kelly, age 89, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at her home.
Ailene was born on June 16, 1931 in Summersville, MO, a daughter of the late George Huskey and Josephine (Mitchell) Huskey.
Ailene retired from TRSCOM as a supply cataloger after many years of dedicated service. Ailene was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and she enjoyed going to the casino in Alton, IL. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Ailene loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. Ailene was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, companion and a friend to many. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Ailene was preceded in death by four sisters, Velma, Violet, Virginia and Beulah; and by her brother, Herman.
She is survived by her loving children, Laura (Allen) Harris of Granite City, IL and Michael (Lisa) Kelly of Jacksonville, FL; dear sister, Bonnie Ament of Summersville, MO; proud grandmother to Ian Kelly, Jolene Loftus and Kelly (Robby) Bruder; proud great-grandmother to Liam Bruder and Landon Loftus; companion and friend of forty years, Tony Besserman; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Ailene requested to be cremated and be buried in her hometown of Summersville, MO.

Henry Lee Williams Jr., 71, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 11:11 p.m. Thurs. May 27, 2021 at his home while under hospice care.
He was born Oct. 4, 1949 in St. Louis, MO to the late Henry Lee & Dorthea (Berner) Williams Sr.
On Jan. 5, 1974, he and Sharon Anderson were married in Madison, IL. She survives in Granite City.
Henry was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He retired from American Steel as a chainman. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and watching TV.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters: Catherine (David) Maeser of Granite City, Patricia (Chuck) Meyer of Fairview Heights, IL and Rachel (George) Elkins of Granite City; 3 sons: Carl (Mindy) Williams of Caseyville, IL, Henry C. (Jamie) Williams and Jacob Williams of Granite City; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
Burial with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery at a later date.

Daryl Paul Munger, 62, of Granite City, Illinois, passed away on May 25, 2021, at St. Louis University Hospital.
Daryl was born October 29, 1958, to James C. and Venida E. (Zimmerly) Munger in East St. Louis, Illinois.
He and Mary C. Mahoney were married on March 21, 1980. Daryl worked for the Granite School District #9 from 1989 until he retired in 2020. During his 32 years there, he was the Director of Building and Grounds for 5 years. He was also a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners for 44 years, local 633 and 664.
He enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing and the outdoors. Being with his grandkids and family was most important to him.
Daryl was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Carol Kohnen.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Mary C. Munger of Granite City, Illinois; daughter, Karen (Chad) Munger of Granite City, Illinois; sons: Kurt (Lisa) Munger of Granite City, Illinois, and Kris (Kourtney) Munger of Fredericktown, Missouri; sister, Cheryl (Tom) Kohnen of O’Fallon, Illinois; brother-in-law Bob Kohnen of Fairview Heights, Illinois; grandchildren: Meagan, Natalie, Julie, Broc, Kamryn, Mason, Myles, and Mathieu; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the Sunset Hill Funeral Home, Glen Carbon, Illinois. Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon, Illinois.

Thomas C. Lawson Sr. 93, of Granite City passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Tom was born on July 27, 1927 in Eaton, Arkansas; the son of the late Alva and Alma (Helms) Lawson. Tom was a mechanic at Lens Service Station in Granite City and a member of Clark Avenue Church of Christ in Granite City. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during WW II and in his free time Tom enjoyed his days of spending time with his family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Tom is survived by and will be missed by his children; Kim and Danette Lawson of Pasadena, TX, Sheila and Mike Dunn of Collinsville, IL, Thomas and Debra Lawson Jr. of Collinsville, IL, Kathy and Bradley Hart of Cleveland, GA, Robert and Gina Lawson of Pontoon Beach, IL; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 5 sisters and many other close family members and friends.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his wife; Erma (Edwards) Lawson, whom he married on June 27, 1948 in Hoxie, Arkansas; 1 brother, 3 sisters and 2 grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Magnuson officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow with full military rites at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorial donations are suggested to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

Daisy Florine Welch, age 82, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Anderson Hospital, Maryville, IL.
Daisy was born on November 12, 1938 in Charleston, MO, a daughter of the late James P. Dean and Daisy F. (Bone) Dean.
On October 29, 1955, Daisy Dean married James F. “Junior” Welch, the love of her life in East St. Louis, IL. Daisy worked as a beautician for many years and she retired from Fantastic Sams in Granite City, IL. Daisy was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and a dear friend to many. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. Daisy loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents and husband, Daisy was preceded in death by a son in infancy, James F. Welch Jr.; grandson, Tyler Welch; son-in-law, Roger Downs; siblings, James Dean, Marshall Dean, Herbert Dean, Charles Dean, Alice Schrader, Helen Smith and Mildred Aldridge.

Anthony “Tony” Dale Watson, 54, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 11:14 a.m. Tues. May 25, 2021 in Granite City.
He was born Jan. 17, 1967 to the late Mary Margaret (Glasgow) Cooper and Lanny Dale Watson.
Tony was a U.S. Army veteran had been an Alton Police Officer. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church and loved to fish.
He is survived by a brother: Lon (Leesah) Watson of Redfield, AR; half-brother: Robert (Linda) Kauzlarich of Kansas City, MO; half-sister: Elizabeth (Joseph) Vitale of Kansas City, MO; his former spouse: Debbie Rice; 2 step-daughters: Rachel Davis Duggan and Emily Davis; a dear cousin: Todd (Kristi) Glasgow of Granite City; and a beloved aunt and uncle: Robert & Harriett Glasgow of Clarksville, TN.

Dorothy Marie Metzger, 84 of Granite City passed away on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Dorothy was born on August 4, 1936 in St. Louis who was a mom who dedicated herself to taking care of her family. Dorothy was known for her giving heart, the love of her family and all the special times they shared together.
Dorothy is survived by and will be missed by her sons; Larry Walker of Granite City, IL, Wendell and Deborah Walker of St. Louis, MO, William Walker of Michigan; grandchildren, Ryan Walker, Aubon R. and Elizabeth Walker, Katlyn N. and Travis Ward, Wendell Walker Jr., Jessica White, William Walker; great-grandchildren, Madison Cobian, Skylar Murphy, Josie N. Walker, Harper R. Ward, Lola McDowell and many other close family members and friends.

Geraldine Mendez, age 82, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Cedarhurst in Collinsville, IL.
Geraldine was born on June 21, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of the late Thomas Schiller and Mary (Bisto) Schiller.
On September 12, 1959, Geraldine married Richard Mendez, the love of her life at St. Mary Catholic Church in Madison, IL, where she is still a faithful member. Geraldine retired as a bookkeeper from Glik’s Department Store in Granite City, IL, after 50 years and 4 months of dedicated service. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and was an excellent party planner. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. Geraldine was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a dear friend to many. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Schiller; and by a sister, Marlene Bonner.
She is survived by her devoted husband of sixty-one years, Richard Mendez Sr. of Granite City, IL; loving children, Laura (Mark) Guenther of Collinsville, IL, Richard (Gayle) Mendez Jr. of Edwardsville, IL and Toni (Todd) Williams of Troy, IL; dear sister, Arlene (Nick) Jackovich of St. Charles, MO; proud grandmother to Becky, Katie, Jordan, Kristen, Matthew, Logan and Brooke; proud great-grandmother to Lyla, Lydia and Derek; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Eulie B. Rich, 88, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 7:45 p.m. on Monday, May 24, 2021 at his home with his family by his side.
He was born May 26, 1932 in Swainsboro, Georgia.
He married Wilma “Jeanie” (Markham) Rich on August 10, 1951 in Granite City and she survives.
He retired in 1995 as an Assistant General Foreman over maintenance after over 45 years of dedicated service with American Steel Foundry in Granite City. The Korean War combat veteran proudly served his country with the United States Army. Eulie loved God and his family and was a longtime faithful member of Calvary Life Church in Granite City. He was always an encouragement to others and wanted peace throughout the world. He was always tinkering with a project, could fix anything and was an expert with plumbing and was a talented machinist. Eulie will be remembered for caring completely, giving quietly and loving so deeply.
In addition to his beloved wife of nearly 70 years, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Dan Brimer of Glen Carbon and Elizabeth and Jeff Connor of Granite City; five grandchildren and their spouses, Gregory and Mandy Brimer, Aaron and Elisabeth Brimer, Adam and Carolyn Connor, Rachel and Andy Ribbing and Hannah and Steven Trask; nine great grandchildren, Emma Brimer, Nora Connor, Blake Brimer, Amelia Brimer, Hudson Ribbing, Scarlett Trask, Beau Brimer, Brynn Connor and Esther Ribbing; many nieces; nephews; other extended family, his church family and a multitude of special friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Maebelle (Rich) and Walter Curtis; a son, Dennis Rich; three brothers, James, Arlie and Charlie Rich and a sister, Myrtice Stearns.

Donald Lee Farrell Jr., 55, of Madison, IL, passed away unexpectedly at 5:40 a.m. Tues. May 25, 2021 at Gateway Regional Medical Center ER in Granite City, IL.
He was born Aug. 12, 1965 in Granite City to Donald Lee & Bette Faye (Schleeter) Farrell Sr.
On Sept. 16, 2000, he and Carolyn S. Ellis were married in Granite City. She survives in Madison.
Don has worked for Lanter/OHL/Geodis as a lead warehouseman. He loved riding Harley’s and had been a member of the Eagles motorcycle club. He also loved to hunt and fish.
In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son: Robert “Bobby” W. Stokes Jr. of Granite City; a sister: Deborah (Jim) Jones of Worden, IL and their children: Corbin and Conner; aunts: Sharon Olivia Metzger of Cape Girardeau, MO, Joan (Jim) Niggli of Highland, IL, Arletta Clarke of Highland, IL and Donna (Bob) Peck of St. Peters, MO; many cousins; and his beloved dog: Levi.

Tracie L. Cottrell, 61, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at her home.
She was born August 27, 1959 in Granite City.
She married Thomas D. Cottrell on April 5, 1979 at the First Baptist Church in Granite City and he survives.
She has worked with Help at Home the last five years and dedicated 30 years of loving care with home health care.
She loved her days of boating and fishing. Tracie cherished helping others and gave so much love and care to others throughout the years. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
In addition to her beloved husband of 42 years, she is survived by her mother, Betty L. (Tinnon) Homyer of Granite City; a son, Brian (Sheila Keelin) Keeton of Staunton; three grandchildren, Jacob, Brandon and California; two sisters, Vickie Puhse of Granite City and Marcie Vansyoc of Lake Ozark, Missouri; a brother, Eric (Jan) Homyer of Williston, South Carolina; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Richard and Hilda Cottrell; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Marvin L. Little and two brothers-in-law, Sonnie Puhse and David Vansyoc.
In celebration of her life, a private memorial service will be held at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Collinsville with Reverend Sherman Smith officiating.

David Wesley Copper Sr., 87, of Mitchell, Illinois peacefully passed from this earth January 26, 2021.
David was born to Richard and Velma Copper (Freeland) on October 27, 1933 in McDonald, Kansas. He grew up in Kansas and Colorado, graduating from Kiowa High School in Kiowa, Colorado. He became a diesel mechanic in the Army. While stationed at the Granite City Army Depot he met and married the love of his life Geraldine (Jeri) Meyer. Together they raised their children Eugene (Cathy) Copper, Karen Copper, Carla (Steve) Cooper, David (Teresa) Copper and Russell (Susan) Copper in Mitchell.
David had a long and illustrious career as an all-around machinist for McDonnell Aircraft Company and foreman at McDonnell Douglas, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service. Highlights included machining critical components for the Mercury and Gemini spacecrafts. Following his retirement, he and Jeri traveled extensively across the globe. He was active in the Granite City Elks BPOE 1063 and Amvets Post 204.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and brothers Phillip, Lloyd and Anthony and granddaughter Christina Copper Ferguson.
In addition to his children, he is survived by grandchildren Anthony Copper, Wesley Copper, Jacob Cooper, Michael Copper, Daniel Cooper, Sarah Langley (Cooper) and Logan Copper; and great-grandchildren Kayla and Kile Ridenour, Grayson, Luca and Cade Copper, Daniel, Jameson, Walker and baby Cooper, and Homer and Theodore Langley.
A celebration of life memorial lunch will be held Saturday, May 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge #1063, 4801 Maryville Road in Granite City, IL 62040. Thank you for your prayers and loving memories.

Paula “Penny” James, 66, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
She was born June 6, 1954 in Madison, Illinois, a daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Aspberger) Planitz.
She married Larry C. James on September 16, 1977 in Granite City and he passed away on March 22, 2020.
She retired in June 2020 from Thompson Coburn in St. Louis after 30 years of dedicated in information technology service at the law firm.
She will be remembered for the love and special times she shared with her family and friends and cherished her dogs.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Sally Pavlow Johnson, Julie Dant, Frances Dant, Christina Pavlow, Brittany Kilmer, Tim Black, Jason Black; other nieces; nephews; great nieces; great nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Andrew Planitz; four sisters, Joelaine Hackney, Nancy Edwards, Theresa Dant and Antoinette Pavlow and a niece, Jemma Dant.

Frankie Wayne Greathouse, age 75, of Madison, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at his home.
Frank was born on February 16, 1946 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late Frank Eldred Greathouse and Ada Ellen (Bunnell) Greathouse.
Frank retired in 2013 as a medical surgery technician from Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL, after 42 years of dedicated service. He was an avid sports fan and he always enjoyed talking about sports and politics. He proudly served on the Granite City Planning and Zoning Committee for several years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. He especially enjoyed the time spent with his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. Frank never met a stranger, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his sister, Doris Macklin; two granddaughters, Alicia Lohr and Zoey Jarnagin; and by a daughter-in-law, Lori Jarnagin.
He is survived by his dear brother, Dennis Greathouse; devoted life partner of 49 years, Martha Jarnagin; loving daughter and son-in-law, Michele Jarnagin and Ted Lohr; loving son, Michael Jarnagin; proud grandfather to Alexandra Lohr and Belle Jarnagin; extended family and many wonderful friends.

Nora J. Thornsberry, nee, Henneman, age 91, of Granite City, IL, born on September 21, 1929 in Granite City, IL, died on Thursday, May 6, 2021 at her residence.
Nora worked as a supervisor for the United States Government. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. Nora enjoyed dancing and was the Queen of Hearts. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary in Granite City, IL.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Thornsberry. They were married for 26 years. Nora is also preceded in death by her parents, William, and Nellie Folk Smallwood, Henneman; her sister, Clara Ruth Warren, and her daughter-in-law, Debra Homyer.
Nora is survived by her children, Gregory (Donna) Homyer, Jeffery (Cheryl Nunn) Homyer, Peggy Jackson, and Russell Homyer; her grandchildren, Heather Wix and Angela (Brian) Homyer Donohue; and her great-grandchildren, Aidan Xavier Wix and Nadia Wix.

Cheryl Lynn Jensen, age 71, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Gateway Regional Hospital in Granite City, IL.
Cheryl was born on July 7, 1949 in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Ted Jensen and Marie (Walker) Jensen.
Cheryl retired as a physical scientist from the U.S. Government after many years of dedicated service. She was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church in Granite City, IL. Cheryl was a loving sister, aunt, great-aunt, great-great-aunt, cousin and a friend to many. She loved life, she loved to laugh but most of all she loved her family and her cats. Cheryl will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

James “Jim” Colp Sr. 74, of Granite City passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Barnes Jewish Hospital surrounded by his family.
Jim was born on April 24, 1947 in Granite City; the son of the late William N. and Myra A. (Carney) Colp. Jim gave over 55 years of service to United States Steel as an Emergency Services Dispatcher and in his free time he enjoyed his days of spending time with his family. Jim will be remembered for his dedication to his profession, the love he had for his family and all the special times they shared together.
Jim is survived by and will be missed by his sons; James and Darla Colp of Troy, IL, Aaron Colp of Granite City, IL; grandchildren, Jessica Colp and fiancé, Nick Osborn, Justin Colp; sisters, Mary and Denny Albano, Vicky and Bob Mathias; brothers, Ricky Colp, Milton “Jerry” and Cheryl Colp and many other close family members and friends.

Robert “Bob” Wayne Leibold, 79, of Granite City, IL, passed away Fri. May 14, 2021 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
He was born June 1, 1941 in Granite City to the late Alvin & Willamina “Minnie” Ida Julia (Landwehmeir) Leibold.
He married Mona L. Hoerle Aug. 13, 1960 in Lebanon, MO. She preceded him in death Jan. 12, 2006. He then married Doris K. Clutts Feb. 16, 2007 in Granite City. She preceded him in death Mar. 16, 2020.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an owner/operator, driving over the road for more than 25 years. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by 2 daughters: Janalea (Robert) Sobiech of Ft. Worth, TX and Leandria (Justin Penelton) Sodini of Granite City; 5 grandchildren: Ashley (Christopher) Keating, Robert (Gina) Suermann, Trey (Stephanie) Sobiech, Nicole Baumann and Geno Sodini; 8 great-grandchildren: Madilyn Keating, Nolan Keating, Robert Alan Suermann Jr., Carter Suermann, Charlotte Sobiech, Easton Keating, Nathan Sodini and Liam Baumann; and a half-brother: Alvin Leibold Jr. of MO.

Faron Denbow, age 64, of Granite City, IL, born on June 19, 1956 in East St. Louis, IL, died on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 surrounded by his family at his residence.
Faron was a Vietnam War Marine Corp Veteran; and a self-employed transmission mechanic with Ronnie’s Transmission for over 40 years. Faron loved all things Harley Davidson, fishing, boating western movies, and his grandbabies.

Kelly Clayton Hodges, Sr, 90, of Granite City, IL died on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at his home.
He was born on May 5, 1931 in St. Louis, MO to Sherman and Mabel (Sternberg) Hodges.
The U.S. Navy and Korean War veteran was retired from the Granite City Police Department after 20 years of service with the rank of Seargent. He was a member of the Granite City Police Department’s pistol team and participated in numerous competitions. Kelly was also a member of the Eagles, Shriner’s and was a 32nd degree Mason. His hobbies were golf and shooting.
The loving father, grandfather and great grandfather is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Ron) Parente of Granite City, IL; two sons: Kelly (Cindy) Hodges, Jr of Edwardsville, IL and Kurt (Maryfe) Hodges of Sykesville, MD; seven grandchildren: Ronnie Parente, Kassie Hodges, Aaron Parente, Jeff (Amanda) Hodges, Ashton Hodges, Camden Hodges and Haleigh Hodges and two great grandchildren: Jason Simpson and Kayleigh Phelps.

Billie Marie Meyer, 83, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at her home.
She was born April 16, 1938 in East St. Louis, Illinois, a daughter of the late Willard Woodrow and Helen Marie (Stephenson) Robinson Sr.
She married Oliver Eugene Meyer on September 14, 1956 in Cahokia and he passed away on September 16, 2014.
She was a devoted wife of a farmer and cherished tending to her house and family. She was a devoted member of St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City. She enjoyed her days of bowling, playing bingo and baking and was known for her specialty cakes. Billie was devoted to her children and grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

She was born December 30, 1957 in State Park, Illinois, a daughter of Joan (Baker) Hill of Edwardsville and the late Melvin Hill.
She married James “Jim” Reader on November 14, 1980 in Granite City and he survives.
She retired in 2016 from St. Louis Community College after 28 years of dedicated service in community relations.
Rebecca loved decorating, tending to her yard, entertaining with family and friends, baking and her days of traveling. She cherished her grandchildren and will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.

Nita Jean (Barton) Riddle, 65, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Nita was born December 26, 1955 in Granite City, a daughter of the late Golden Coin and Doris Jean (McCarter) Barton.
She is survived by her husband Tommy Allen “Tom” Riddle, whom she married on May 23, 1987 in Mitchell, Illinois.
With an exceptional work ethic, Nita dedicated 27 years to her career servicing the behavioral health field through Magellan Health in Maryland Heights, Missouri. Her selfless commitment has left an immeasurable impact not only on those she worked alongside but also on so many whose lives, and livelihoods, were affected by her work.
In her younger days she enjoyed rollerskating and bowling. She was always known for her love of singing to family and how much her dog Franklin loved her voice. Her spare time was filled with crocheting, knitting, sewing, playing games with loved ones, reading and attending yard sales.
Heartily devoted to her family, Nita fulfilled a great number of roles within it as a strong, dependable and caring daughter, sister, aunt, mother, wife and grandmother.

She was born August 31, 1945 in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of the late James Corbett and Sue (Stanley) Reeves.
She married John G. Parker on May 22, 1965 in Cahokia, Illinois and he survives.
She had worked at the Granite City Moose Lodge with 15 years of dedicated service as a secretary. She loved playing bingo, cherished her grandchildren and loved to be around children.
In addition to her beloved husband of 56 years, she is survived by a son, Edward Charles Parker of Texas; five grandchildren, Jacob Schwaller, Mark Reeves, Mason Reeves, Joshua Lessig and Taylor Hoppwood; four great grandchildren including, CharLee and Frankie; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James Gary “Bud” and Becky Reeves of Granite City and Leon and Rita Reeves of Louisiana, Missouri; a sister, Nora Gibbons of Farmington, Missouri; other extended family and many dear friends.

Marcella L. Piel, 87 of Granite City passed away peacefully on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Stearns Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Granite City.
Marcella was born on October 19, 1933 in Schleswig, IA; the daughter of the late Otto F. and Edna M. (Schmadeke) Piel. Marcella was a legal secretary for Bert Strubinger Law offices in St. Louis and worked 48 years. She was received into the Kingdom of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on November 12, 1933 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa administered by Rev. Carl Runge. She publicly confirmed the faith into which she was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, IL by Pastor W.G. Youssi on March 21, 1948. Marcella was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Granite City, a member of the Senior Circle and volunteered her time as a Braille Worker and served on the financial committee. Marcella will be remembered for her loving heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
Marcella is survived by and will be missed by her sisters; Marjorie M. Collias of St. Louis, MO, Darlene A. Jacobs of Red Bud, IL; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and many other close family members and friends.

Howard Guenther, age 94, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at St. Anthony’s DeGreeff Hospice House in St. Louis, MO. Howard was born on July 9, 1926 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late Francis J. Guenther and Clara E. (Mearseal) Guenther.
Howard was a World War II Army Air Corp veteran who proudly served with the 139 AACS Squadron. He retired from KSD TV as a maintenance engineer after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed playing a few rounds of golf with his family and friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Howard was a loving father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a dear friend to many. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

John James Worthen, age 92, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, May 7, 2021 at his home. John was born on August 24, 1928 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late James Leslie Worthen and Daisy (Enyart) Worthen.
John was a Korean War veteran who proudly served his country in the United States Army. On August 9, 1955, John married Loretta Mae Jones, the love of his life in Granite City, IL, and Loretta passed away on October 16, 2020. John retired as a manager from Laclede Gas in St. Louis, MO, after many years of dedicated service. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on the lake in his pontoon boat. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. John loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. John will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by his brother, Monroe Worthen.

Billy was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City IL. He retired in 1992 as a scheduler from Granite City Steel after 42 ½ years of dedicated service. He never met a stranger and he was always will in to lend a helping hand to anyone. Billy was a loving husband, father grandfather and a dear friend to many. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Eugene will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Victoria McQuay, 91, passed away at 10:12 p.m. on Thursday, May 6, 2021, at Morningside of Troy in Troy, IL. Victoria was a long time resident of Madison, IL, prior to her move to Troy in 2016.
She was born December 23, 1929, in Venice, IL, a daughter of the late William and Mary (Gawlik) Yakubiak.
Victoria married Charles Lloyd McQuay Sr. on July 9, 1949, in Venice, IL. She was preceded in death by her husband on Sept. 28, 1993.
She was also preceded in death by her son, Charles L. McQuay, Jr., on June 21, 1980; and her grandson, Christopher M. Babic, on Nov. 23, 2006. In addition, she was preceded in death by her four sisters, Lottie Wenc, Gertrude Rutkowski, Lorraine Rakowski, and Leona Toothill.
Victoria was a member of St. Mary & St. Mark Catholic Church and was a regular volunteer at various church activities over her 60 plus years as a member. She lived by her faith and had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. She was a member of the Association of the Miraculous Medal.
Victoria’s life was centered around her family and friends. She enjoyed countless outdoor activities with her children when they were growing up. Her other interests were traveling, baking, embroidery, card club, and reading. She treasured her trips around the country with Lloyd (especially her first adventures flying to Hawaii and Las Vegas). She made many memorable trips with her daughters, a favorite being a trip to Yellowstone National Park. Later on, she was a regular on the Granite City Park District bus trips and met many new friends. Victoria will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
Victoria is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Milan and Vicki E. Babic of Alhambra, IL, and Burt and Mary Ellen Thompson of Collinsville, IL, and other extended family and friends.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary & St. Mark Catholic Church, 1621 10th St., Madison, IL, at 10:30 AM on Wed., May 12, 2021.
Private family burial will follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Edwardsville, IL.

Barbara L. Mihalich 70, of Granite City passed away peacefully on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Select Specialty Hospital in St. Charles, MO.
Barbara was born on May 11, 1950 in Wood River, IL; the daughter of the late Arthur R. and Lucille (Halton) Rich. Barbara was the Director of the Department of Radiology at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City then finishing her career at Ranken Jordan Pediatric Bridge Hospital in Maryland Heights, MO. Barbara was a board member of the Lewis and Clark Society and a member of the Forum Club. In her free time Barbara enjoyed her days spending time with her husband and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Barbara is survived by and will be missed by her husband; Paul Mihalich, whom she married on June 19, 1971; her brothers, Robert Rich of Arkansas, Kenneth Rich of Michigan, Dixon Rich of Michigan and many other extended family members and friends.
In celebration of Barbara’s life, a visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 7:00 p.m. with Rufus Valencia officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Kevin Beavin Sr. 56, of Granite City passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family.
Kevin was born on July 3, 1964 in East St. Louis, IL; the son of the late Joseph K. and Shirley (Yarbrough) Beavin. Kevin was the manager at the Granite City Car Wash and was a huge hockey fan of the St. Louis Blues. Kevin was known for having a soft heart and occasionally enjoying a cold beer. He will be remembered for the love of his family and all the special times they shared together.
Kevin is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Tina (Jones) Beavin, whom he married on December 29, 1984; his son, Kevin Beavin Jr. and fiancé Jessica Skinner of Granite City; daughter, Leanne and Phillip Clutts III of Granite City; grandchildren, Jason Clutts of Granite City, Trenton Clutts of Granite City, Evelyn Clutts of Granite City, Maci Beavin of Granite City, Landon Stroud of Granite City; brothers, Shannon and Patsy Beavin, Joe and Norine Beavin, Kenny Beavin; sisters, Denise and Joe Burgoon, Robin Loveall.
In addition to his parents, Kevin was preceded in death by his brother; Jeff Beavin; sisters, Barb Roberson, Janice Bone.

Thomas “Tommy” L. Barczewski, age 60, of Granite City, IL, formerly of Todds Mill, IL, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 at Gateway Regional Medical Center, Granite City, IL.
Tommy was born on September 25, 1960 in Nashville, IL, a son of the late Bernard “Barney” Barczewski and Lee Rose Turner Barczewski.
Tommy owned Tommy Barczewski Trucking and was in the trucking business for over 30 years. He was a rambling man who instilled his love of travel and adventure into his children. This year he achieved a lifetime goal of traveling to all 50 states, checking Alaska off in January, and was making plans to purchase an RV for retirement so he and his son, Tyler, could continue enjoying the open road. He was a collector and loved to take on new projects of all kinds, he could fix anything he put his mind to. He recently purchased an old Studebaker to restore as a new hobby. His greatest joy was taking care of his family and everyone else. He worked hard his entire life, he was stubborn, determined, and tough, but had the biggest heart. Through all of his projects, work, and how he supported others, Tommy could not even begin to know the lasting legacy he will leave behind. A story that was written with an ending that finished too soon, there are so many people that will pick up that legacy to keep the chapters going because he gave them an opportunity, support, and love to carry on. He was a loving father, brother, uncle and a dear friend to many. Tommy will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by sister Betsy Thurman.
He is survived by his loving children, Amanda (Nick) Martin of Baton Rouge, LA; Tyler Barczewski of Granite City, IL and Riley Barczewski (Lucian Lawley) of Orlando, FL; lifelong partner, Marlene Barczewski of Granite City, IL; dear sister, Rosemary of Odin, brother Steve of Walnut Hill, the family dog, Julia, grand-dogs Wellington and Baron, grand-cats Marcy and Potatoes, nieces, nephews, extended family and many wonderful friends.
A celebration of life will be held for family and friends to share their stories and memories together on Thursday, May 6 at 5:00 pm at the local establishment, Inn Between in Granite City, Illinois. Additional memorial arrangements will be made by the family at a later time.

Rita Anne Zaruba, 65, of Pontoon Beach, IL, passed away at 7:52 p.m. Mon. May 3, 2021 at her home with her family by her side while under hospice care.
She was born Feb. 11, 1956 in Granite City to the late Bernard Eugene & Mary Rita (Sido) Ahlers.
On Feb. 11, 1978, she and James Edward Zaruba were married in Granite City. He survives in Pontoon Beach.
Rita had been an RN for Gateway and Anderson Hospitals in the ER and a home health nurse. She had been a member of the Maryville grade school PTA, band parent at Collinsville High School and had been a member and participated with the Girl Scouts for her daughters. She also loved to scrapbook.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by 2 daughters: LeAnne (Mike) Fetrow and Nicole Zaruba of Granite City; 2 grandchildren: Matthew and Jacob Fetrow; siblings: Justine (Michael) Thornton, James (Connie) Ahlers, Patricia Atkins, Gregor (Amy) Ahlers, Glen (Laura) Ahlers and Scott (Vicki) Ahlers; a sister-in-law: Linda Ahlers; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Ahlers; a brother-in-law: Frank Atkins; and her in-laws: Frank & Betty Zaruba.

Patricia A. Fultz, 70, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 6:12 p.m. Sun. May 2, 2021 at her home.
She was born May 19, 1950 in Madison, IL to the late Thomas & Anna (Mushill) Loftus.
Patricia was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She loved to quilt, paint and craft.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Sarah (Christopher) Fleenor of Westerville, OH and Nichcole Hopkins of Granite City; a son: John Hopkins of Granite City; 5 grandchildren: Noah Hopkins, Symantha Hopkins, Cameron Fleenor, Sawyer Fleenor and Caraline Fleenor; a brother: William (Patricia) Loftus of Granite City; 2 sisters-in-law: Lois Loftus of Lake Jackson, TX and Marie Loftus of Granite City; a brother-in-law: David Borg of MO; and her former spouse: Michael Fultz of Granite City.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Thomas and Raymond Loftus; and a sister: Paula Borg.

David Todd Medley, 57, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 7:00 p.m. Sun. May 2, 2021 at Westview Nursing Home in Center, MO.
He was born Dec. 18, 1963 in Granite City to the late Ruby (Lam) Sullivan and Herbert Medley.
David was in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1982 to 1986. He had been a Venice police officer and worked at Spectralite Consortium. He was also a DeMolay.
He is survived by his 3 children: Lauren Medley of St. Louis, Darick Medley and Darian Medley of Granite City; 2 grandchildren: Cadence Sanders of St. Louis and Dominic Medley of Granite City; a brother: Herbert (Beverly) Medley of St. Louis; a sister: Linda (Johnny) Beal of Mountain Grove, MO; a sister-in-law: Joyce Medley of Mountain Grove, MO; his former spouse: Tinette Medley of St. Louis, MO and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father: Larry Sullivan; a brother: Lewis Medley; and 2 sisters: Vickie Bender and Mickie Medley.

“Junior” Jackson, 70 of Granite City passed away on Sunday May 2, 2021 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
Junior was born on September 25, 1950 in Anna, IL; the son of the late Fred R. and Jeanette (Sinks) Jackson Sr. Junior was a Crane operator for US Steel, retiring in 2012. Junior had attended Enjoy Church in Alton and proudly served his country in the United States Navy. In his free time, Junior enjoyed his days of traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Junior will be remembered for the love of his family and all the special times they shared together.
Junior is survived by and will be missed by his wife; Barbara (Barnett) Jackson, whom he married on February 14, 1975; son, Scott and Katie Jackson of Edwardsville, IL; daughter, Renee and Matthew Baldwin of Granite City, IL; grandchildren, Brynn Jackson, Brooke Jackson, Trey Jackson of Edwardsville, Alexa Baldwin, Chloe Baldwin of Granite City; brother, Joe Jackson and Fielding Johnson of Ft. Elizabeth Rose Szymcek, 59 of Granite City passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur, MO.
Elizabeth was born on March 19, 1962 in Granite City; the daughter of the late Victor A. and Marie H. (Costa) Szymcek. Elizabeth was a Teacher’s Aid for the Granite City School District and a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Granite City. Elizabeth was a member of the Polish Hall in Madison, IL and had a special love of her granddog, Copper. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Elizabeth is survived by and will be missed by her daughter; Gabrielle and Christopher Roberts of Granite City; sister, Janice and John Groboski of Bonne Terre, MO; brothers, Victor J. and Gwen Szymcek of Herrin, IL, Anthony and Norma Alexander of Albany, OR and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many other close family members and friends.

Richard Lee Fanning, age 83, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at his home. Richard was born on March 20, 1938 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late Oliver Fanning and Sophie (Parker) Fanning.
On May 18, 1957, Richard married Beverly Colyer, the love of his life at First United Presbyterian Church in Granite City, IL. Richard was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church in Granite City, IL. Richard was in the auto parts industry starting his career at Madison Auto Parts and he retired from Al’s Automotive as store manager after 35 years of dedicated service. Richard enjoyed traveling with Beverly over the years. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals Baseball fan and St. Louis Blues Hockey fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a dear friend to many. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his siblings, Billy Fanning, Bobby Fanning and Norma Boyer.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Beverly Fanning of Granite City, IL; loving daughters, Brenda (Richard B.)
