Jencee Rae Larner Crouter, 77, passed away on April 30th, 2026, in St. Louis, MO.

Jencee was born on July 27th, 1948, to parents William and Dorothy Larner. While she was born and raised in Granite City, IL, Florida was always known as her second home.

She loved traveling there with her husband, Robert Crouter; especially to the beaches of St. Pete or Marco Island. When they weren’t jetting off to Florida, they also liked to spend time together in Traverse City, MI.

Jencee spent many years working in retail management before eventually retiring. During that time, she stayed active by working for the Granite City School District, officially leaving in 2020. Jencee liked to fill her time by being around the people who mattered the most to her, whether it was shopping with her girlies (especially on Black Friday) or spending time catching up with her family and friends via hours and hours of facetime calls. She could be found taking a painting class here and there, expanding on her Yoga poses, and enjoying her favorite novels, especially while soaking up the nice weather outside. While she loved traveling to Florida, she had her sights set on traveling abroad as well – fulfilling a bucket list trip to England.

It wasn’t the vacations or shopping hauls that really impacted Jencee, though, it was the people she spent her time with. The amount of love that people truly had for her, helped with the loses she has had to suffer over her entire life. Her niece, Kasie, said it best very recently when she said, “her outlook on life is what made her so amazing. She carried grief but didn’t wear it. She never had a victim mentality. That is the mark of an incredible human, woman.” She was fiercely independent, was known for doing things her way, and was a true survivor. There won’t be a day that goes by where her impact isn’t felt and her presence isn’t missed.

Those left to honor her memory are her daughter, Lori (Phillip) Wicks; granddaughter, Sarah Rae (Adam) Krause; grandson, Brandon Doudera; great grandson, Isaac Thomas; as well as her grand-dogs, Bega, Lollie Sue, Enzie, and Finny; and other animal loves, Evie and Jakey. Also surviving Jencee are her brother, Jeff (Nathalie) Larner; nephew, Chad (Kristen) Larner as well as their children, Lainey and Gunnar; and her niece, Kasie (Greg) Dawson. She was the Teta to one of the many lights of her life, Sean. She was annoyingly proud of him. In fact, the pride Jencee took in her brother and his family often lit up her life. She will be missed by many more extended relatives, close friends, and furbabies.

Preceding Jencee in death are her parents, William Larner and Dorothy Larner (nee Demaree); husband, Robert Crouter; son, Thomas William; and siblings, Greg Larner and Debbie Larner.

A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, at the Lifepoint Church in Collinsville, IL, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. A goodbye prayer service will be held immediately following the visitation at 6:00.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Granite City APA in Jencee’s name. Jencee had a love for all animals, especially the ones she lost – Lilly Marlena, Liza Margarite, Sammy Mojo and Elliott L.L.

Born on December 10, 1947, in Granite City, she was the beloved daughter of Von Dee Cruse and Lois Hamm. Deborah built a strong and independent life, working for TWA, American Steel, and later retiring from the Granite City Township Assessor’s Office.

Deborah was truly one of a kind—a vibrant spirit and a “ball of fire,” lovingly known by her daughters as their “spicy little jalapeño.” She was a devoted single mother who would have moved mountains for her girls, loving them with a fierce and unwavering heart. Her family was her entire world, and she made sure they always felt it.

Deborah also had a passion for shopping—especially when it came to her ever-growing shoe collection. A true fashionista, she never left the house without being perfectly put together, always dressed for the occasion. Linda Faye Rodriguez, 73, of Granite City, Illinois, formerly Linda Tuberville, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2026. After facing the challenges of a brain aneurysm five years ago with quiet strength, resilience, and grace, she is now at rest.

A woman of profound faith, Linda lived her life as a devoted Christian, finding daily strength and purpose in her relationship with the Lord. Her greatest prayer was that her family would one day be reunited with her in heaven. To that end, she took it upon herself to ensure her grandchildren were in church every Sunday and Wednesday, instilling in them the foundations of faith and love that were so important to her.

Linda’s life was defined by a fierce and selfless devotion. She possessed a rare, gentle spirit that harbored no ill will, choosing instead to be a constant source of support for anyone in need. She was a woman who never gave up on the people she loved, offering a grace and loyalty that was truly life-saving. Her home was a sanctuary; her door was always open, and she frequently welcomed her children and grandchildren back home during their most difficult chapters, ensuring they always had a safe place to land.

Her family was her entire world. She shared a deep and enduring bond with her first-born son, Jeff Ward; although separated by miles, their connection remained a priority and she took great pride in his frequent visits, especially caring for her throughout her illness.

Before her illness, Linda was a vibrant, beautiful lady who loved to dance. She possessed a youthful energy that allowed her to keep up with her daughters, Amy Ortiz and Kimberly Zavala, on the dance floor, creating memories that her family and lifelong friends will cherish forever.
As a foster mother to many children over the years, Linda’s heart knew no boundaries, eventually leading her to grow her family through the adoption of her son, Roberto Cortez.

Beyond her family, her heart extended to her beloved dogs—Chiquita, Uno, and Xavier—and she truly had a heart of gold.

She was a mainstay at the birth of every one of her grandchildren, often being the one to literally cut the umbilical cord—a testament to her deep-rooted need to be there for her family from their very first moments. She was the silent strength behind her family’s resilience, providing the stability and unconditional love that allowed her children and grandchildren to overcome life’s challenges and thrive.

Linda is survived by her children, Jeff Ward, Amy Ortiz, Kimberly Zavala, and Roberto Cortez; her grandchildren, Ricardo Rivera, Nicholas Rivera, Victoria Ortiz, Sara Torres, Christian Creel, and Fredy Zavala; and her great-grandchildren, Rianne, Aubrey, Juliano, and Ka’llani. She is also survived by her brother, James (Jim) Tuberville.

Todd Lee Wise, 55, passed away on April 7, 2026, with his family by his side, leaving behind a love that will echo in the hearts of all who knew him—especially the woman who knew him best.

Todd was born on October 8, 1970, in Alton, Illinois. From an early age, he carried within him a quiet strength and a deep sense of compassion that would come to define his life’s work and the way he loved others.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, and later devoted over 20 years of his life as a firefighter and paramedic with the Granite City Fire Department.

Todd was more than a first responder—he was a steady hand in moments of chaos, a calm voice in times of fear, and a source of comfort for countless people on their worst days. He didn’t just do the job—he lived it, with heart, humility, and unwavering dedication.

On October 4, 2019, in Alton, Todd married the love of his life, Patti Mitchell. Theirs was a love story that didn’t need grand gestures to be understood—it was seen in the way he looked at her, the way he spoke to her, and the way he made sure every single day that his sweet “Baba” knew just how deeply she was loved. Their bond was unshakable, tender, and true—a kind of love that most only hope to find once in a lifetime.

Todd was a man who made people feel safe—not just in emergencies, but in everyday life. He was kind, caring, and endlessly giving. He had a way of drawing people in with his warmth, his easy smile, and his genuine spirit. He loved to sing, to dance, to work in the yard, and to enjoy the simple, beautiful moments life offered.

Above all, Todd was a devoted family man. His family was his world—the light that guided him and the reason behind everything he did. He was incredibly proud of his son, Calyx Reed Wise, and found immense joy in watching him play baseball, cheering him on with a full heart and quiet pride.

Though his time here feels far too short, the love Todd gave so freely will remain—a steady, comforting presence for those who were lucky enough to know him. In the quiet moments, in the songs that play, in the memories that surface unexpectedly—he will still be there.
