Granite City Township invites seniors to celebrate the season with joy, community, and gratitude at their annual Senior Christmas Party on December 4, 2025. This beloved tradition is just one of many exceptional services offered year-round to enrich the lives of local residents.

Granite City Township is once again rolling out the red carpet for its senior residents with the Annual Senior Christmas Party, a festive gathering that blends entertainment, delicious food, and heartfelt camaraderie. Scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2025, the celebration begins with a free movie at 1:00 PM at Granite City Cinema, followed by dinner at the Township Hall at 3:30 PM, with doors opening at 3:00 PM. Seniors aged 55 and older who reside in the township are encouraged to reserve their spot by December 1 by calling (618) 877-0513.

This event is more than a party; it’s a reflection of the Township’s unwavering commitment to its senior community. Past celebrations have featured catered meals, cheerful decorations, and even surprise guests, all made possible by the dedicated staff and volunteers who serve with heart.

Granite City Township stands out for its robust senior services, which go far beyond holiday festivities. Throughout the year, residents enjoy:

Weekly activities like bingo, pinochle, chair yoga, line dancing, and exercise classes.

Monthly trips to destinations such as Eckert’s Farm, Fairmont Racetrack, historical Springfield, Illinois,, outlet malls, and the St. Louis Zoo.

Transportation services for shopping, medical appointments, and social outings.

Hot lunches served daily, with coffee and donuts offered every morning.

Faith in Action visits for Medicare assistance and other support.

Meals on Wheels distribution in partnership with Senior Services Plus.

These programs are coordinated by Supervisor Margaret Shipley and her dedicated team, who work tirelessly to ensure that seniors remain active, connected, and cared for.
