Granite City’s senior community continues to prove that generosity and civic pride are alive and well. On August 23, the Granite City Senior Social Club, in partnership with Church Women United, hosted a lively Quilt Bingo fundraiser at the Granite City Township Hall. The result? A remarkable $4,485.25 raised for TWIGS—a local nonprofit that provides summer meals to children who rely on school lunch programs during the academic year.
Yesterday, September 27, the executive boards and fundraising committee proudly presented the donation to TWIGS, celebrating not just the funds raised, but the spirit of unity and compassion that made it possible. From quilt donors to bingo players, every participant played a role in this success.
The Senior Social Club is no stranger to bringing people together. In addition to special fundraisers like Quilt Bingo, the club hosts monthly bingo games at the Granite City Township Hall, offering fun and fellowship for local seniors. Throughout the year, members also enjoy seasonal dances and parties, including festive gatherings in the fall and at Christmastime, each one a chance to connect, celebrate, and support one another. All Granite City Senior Social Club events can be found in the GraniteCityGossip.com Community Calendar.
This fundraiser is a shining example of what happens when community members come together with purpose. It’s not just about quilts or bingo—it’s about making sure no child goes hungry, and no senior feels alone.
