From an early age, he felt a calling on his life — a calling that would shape not only his future, but the lives of countless others.

On July 8, 1977, Ritch married the love of his life, Cynthia Rea, at Bethel Chapel in Granite City, Illinois. Their 48 years of marriage were a beautiful testimony of devotion, partnership, and unwavering faith. Together, they built a life rooted in love, family, and service to God.

Ritch earned his Doctorate in Theology and became a respected and admired shepherd among his colleagues and congregation. Yet titles never defined him. He was, above all, a humble servant of the Lord. He loved preaching the Word of God, studying his Bible, and spending countless hours in prayer. A true prayer warrior, he stood in the gap for many, offering strength, counsel, and encouragement to those in need. As his voice thundered from behind the pulpit every heart was stirred, but it was his quiet compassion and steady faith that left the deepest imprint.

Beyond the church walls, Ritch found joy in the simple blessings of life. He loved fishing with family and friends. Most of all, he treasured his role as PawPaw. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved cheering them on and covering them in prayer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, T.F. Goldizen.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith and love through his devoted wife, Cynthia Goldizen of Granite City, Illinois; his loving children, Eric (Kelly) Goldizen of Granite City, Illinois, and Shontae (Ryan) Harris of Danville, Illinois; and his treasured grandchildren, Zachary (Makenzie) Goldizen, Kinsington Goldizen, Carter Goldizen, Jentezen Harris, Madison Harris, Judah Harris, Emberson Harris, and Seazen Harris. He is also survived by extended family members, fellow ministers, church family, and many dear friends whose lives were forever changed by his ministry.

Though hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the promise he preached so faithfully — that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. She was a woman who was a true vessel of kindness.

We see a life that was lived with an open heart. It is said that the way we treat others is the true measure of our soul, and by that measure, Trudy was extraordinary.

She didn’t just meet people; she welcomed them. She treated every soul she encountered with a warmth that made them feel like they had known her forever.”

“There was a kind of joy in the way she moved through the world. Many of you have shared stories of her arrival—how you would hear the music before you saw her. Whether it was the rock-and-roll spirit of Aerosmith or a simple beat, she would pull up, step out of her car, and begin to dance.

But while she was often dancing, she was never lost. Her family fondly remembers her as a ‘natural-born GPS.’ She had an incredible, almost miraculous mind for direction. It didn’t matter if she had been to a place only once, or if it was halfway across the world—she knew exactly how to get there. And not only could she take you there, she could tell you step by step directions in an instant. She was the one you wanted leading the way to any and every destination.”

” Trudy had a profound connection with animals. There is a special kind of grace in a person whom animals instinctively trust. She loved them and they returned that love in kind. This reflected the gentleness of her spirit—a spirit that saw value in all of God’s creatures.”

“We also remember her for the gift of laughter. She possessed a wonderful, sharp sense of humor and a knack for the unexpected. She could do the funniest things, often when they were least expected, reminding us all not to take ourselves too seriously. She leaves behind a community of friends—of which there are many—who are better for having laughed with her.”

“Though we feel the silence where her music used to play, we take comfort in knowing that her dance continues in a place of peace. Let us carry forward her lessons: to treat the stranger as a friend, to care for the creatures of the earth, and to never be afraid to dance when the music starts. She will be missed dearly by her loved ones just as she will be forever loved by them.”

She is preceded in death by her parents James Thurston Snipes, her mother Lois Mae Snipes and her brother Robert Thurston Snipes.
