Held at the Granite City Township Hall, the breakfast invites township seniors to gather with friends, meet new neighbors, and enjoy a hearty meal, all while staying informed and engaged with their community.<br><br>Today\u2019s breakfast featured special guests Police Chief Gary Brooks, Detective Brandon Shellenberg and several members of the Granite City Police Department. After joining the seniors for breakfast, Chief Brooks introduced Detective Shellenberg, who led a thoughtful and informative presentation on common scams targeting older adults. From phone fraud to phishing schemes, Shellenberg covered the tactics scammers use and offered practical advice on how to protect personal information and staying safe. The session was interactive, with seniors asking questions and sharing concerns, and GCPD responding with clarity, compassion, and actionable tips.<br><br>The Township expressed its gratitude to the GCPD for spending the morning with the community, noting the importance of these conversations in protecting and empowering local seniors.<br><br>Participation in the monthly breakfast requires advance registration.  Seniors must call the township office (618-877-0513) to reserve their spot and place a $5 deposit, which is returned upon attendance. This thoughtful system ensures accurate planning while keeping the event accessible to all.<br><br>Beyond breakfast, Granite City Township offers a wide array of senior services, including transportation, wellness programs, social events, and much more. Upcoming breakfast dates and other activities are posted regularly on the GraniteCityGossip.com Community Calendar and on the website&#8217;s &#8220;Local Township&#8221; page, and also on  their Facebook pages.<br><br>With several more breakfasts scheduled, the Township encourages seniors to join in.
