On Saturday, August 23rd, the Granite City Township Hall was filled with laughter, anticipation, and the soft rustle of bingo cards as Church Women United, in conjunction with the Granite City Senior Social Club, hosted their vibrant Quilt Bingo Charity Event. The fundraiser benefited TWIGS for Kids, a local nonprofit dedicated to feeding children during the summer months when school lunches aren’t available.
“It was so much fun and an honor to support such a meaningful organization, Kudos to all involved.” shared attendee Brenda Cole. “Lots of hard work and love showed!”
TWIGS identifies neighborhoods with at-risk children and sets up accessible lunch locations ranging from firehouses to city-owned lots, so no child goes hungry. The Quilt Bingo event helped raise funds to support this mission, with proceeds going directly toward meals, supplies, and outreach.
The event featured a dazzling array of handcrafted quilts, each stitched with care and creativity. Attendees played for a chance to win one of these treasures, while others enjoyed food, a bake sale, and a variety of prize drawings including over 50 gift cards and 50/50 bingo games.
Even those who didn’t win a quilt had a second chance: several quilts remain available for purchase, with proceeds continuing to support TWIGS.
“There were some very happy quilt winners,” the Senior Social Club posted on social media. “Stay tuned…there will be another post of several quilts that are still available for purchase.”
Whether you came for the bingo, the quilts, or the camaraderie, the event stitched together something far greater than fabric—it wove a tapestry of kindness, laughter, and purpose.
