Charlene J. Sanders, 92, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:54 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at Stillwater Senior Living in Edwardsville.

Her life on Earth has ended. She was welcomed into Heaven and reunited in the waiting arms of her beloved husband and other loved ones who have gone before her.

Born February 27,1933, in Pulaski, Illinois, a daughter of the late Fred and Nellie (Sharp) Boger. She married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Sanders on May 23, 1953, at Second Baptist Church in Granite City. Bob preceded her in death on November 2, 2017.

They purchased their only home just a block from the church, raising their family and serving their church faithfully. Charlene was a lifelong, faithful, and dedicated member of Second Baptist Church. There she served her Savior in leading children’s choirs, teaching Sunday School classes and Mission Friends, and coordinating funeral meals for more than 60 years. She followed her mother’s footsteps in Women’s Missionary Union activities. The women’s sewing group made clothing that has been distributed on three different continents. At the time of her passing she was the longest living member of the church. She spent her life getting to know her Lord Jesus Christ and was at peace with the plan He had for her life.

Charlene was employed at General Steel Industries and First National Bank Granite City prior to the birth of her children. Together, Bob and Charlene operated a rental business in Granite City for more than fifty years. This allowed Charlene to be a stay-at-home Mom where she was active in all her children’s activities. She was always there to support her children in their endeavors whether it was making food, providing cold drinks for friends and teachers, baking her famous brownies, or assisting with their activities. She was always there at the concerts, sporting events, fund raisers, and community activities in which they were involved.

In later years, they enjoyed cruising with relatives and friends. Hawaii and Alaska were two highlights of their cruise excursions. Time spent enjoying Silver Dollar City and Branson was a highlight of the family’s yearly vacations. In their retirement years, they loved spending winters in Florida where they again made lifelong friends who felt like family.

Charlene’s greatest source of pride, purpose, and light in her life on Earth was her children and grandchildren. In her final life plan, her hope was that her legacy of love would be continued by her children and grandchildren for the rest of their years. She concluded her plan with the note that when it was their time to be welcomed into Heaven, she would be there with her husband waiting with open arms.

Terry Carroll of Madison, Illinois, left this world on October 11, 2025, likely doing things his own stubborn way right up until the end.

He was born in East St. Louis and raised between Collinsville and Granite City, Illinois, where he spent most of his life surrounded by the people, places and habits he refused to change.  Terry could be equal parts frustrating and funny, often in the same five minutes.

He wasn’t always easy to love, and sometimes he made sure of that—but he was still our dad.

He taught us more than he probably realized: how to stand our ground, how to handle things ourselves, and maybe most importantly, how not to take life—or each other—too seriously.

Terry is survived by his kids, Christina Eyman and Terry Carroll, who inherited his stubborn streak, his sarcastic sense of humor, and maybe a few unresolved questions.  Their spouses Thomas Eyman and Angela Carroll.

Grandchildren; Cassidy Eyman, Adam Eyman, Cooper Eyman and Alexis Carroll

Sisters; Victoria Carroll and Debbie Mundell

Biological Mother Vivian Stelzer

Nieces; Nicole, Brittany, and Jessica along with their spouses as well as the next generation of his great niece and nephew tribe that he was soon to impart his words of wisdom upon.

He was greeted at the doors of Heaven by his father Eugene “Moose” Carroll, mother Carolyn “Chick” Carroll and brother Garen Carroll.

In true Terry fashion, there won’t be a big fuss or a formal service.  We’ll honor him our own way, with a few laughs, a few eye rolls, and probably a story or two that starts with “Remember that time Dad…”

Rest easy, old man.  You did your way—of course you did.

The family is being served by Sunset Hill Funeral Home, 50 Fountain Drive, Glen Carbon, Illinois  62034.  (618) 656-3220

Lisa Gail McKee, 62, of Granite City, Illinois, was born July 29, 1963. The baby of the family of 7. She met most of them again for the first time in a while on October 1, 2025.

Lisa joined our heavenly Father and her earthly parents, Gladys and Clarence Whitford.

Also, there were her 3 older brothers, Eddie Whitford, Brad Whitford, and John Whitford.

Those of us left behind to miss her like crazy include the love of her life for 43 years, Willard McKee, her “Dear.” Her 2 daughters, Abby (Michael) Brame and Melissa McKee (Joey Garrison). The light of her world and her “Peanut,” grandson Brycen Garrison. Her only remaining sibling, sister Janice Harris. A parade of nieces and nephews, so many of whom she held a special bond with.

Lisa leaves behind a legacy of joy and just good clean fun. You would commonly find Lisa not acting her age. From attempting to snowboard for the first time and breaking an ankle at 43, or jumping out of a perfectly good airplane for her 50th birthday, and seriously, what kind of 60-year-old has a balloon animal artist at her birthday party? She was always the one who would shrug her shoulders and say, “I’ll try it.”

Between work, church, and anywhere else she went, Lisa could always be found wherever the kids were. Lisa recently celebrated her 20th year working with Riverbend Head Start, and anyone who knew her knew she had a passion for kiddos.

What we want people to remember more than anything about Lisa is her love for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She would want nothing more than for every person reading this to join her in heaven one day.

We know she wouldn’t want us to end with anything other than her favorite Bible verse: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13).

In celebration of her life, visitation will be at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City on Thursday, October 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. where funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 10, 2025, with Pastor Keith Braddock officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Memorials may be made to Riverbend Head Start and may be accepted at the funeral chapel.
