Geri Anne Thompson, age 52, of Granite City, IL, born on December 10, 1969, in Anchorage, Alaska, died on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Geri was a bookkeeper for 26 years at Sam’s Club, Glen Carbon, IL. She loved spending time with her friends and family especially her grandchildren.
Geri liked making things on her Cricut Machine and enjoyed watching the St. Louis Blues. Geri was a 20-year survivor of Breast Cancer and fought through her illness like a warrior, never backing down from the fight. She is preceded in death by her father Edward R. Love.
Geri is survived by her husband, Larry Thompson; her children, Chelsea (Michael Frazier) Love, Haley Thompson, Christopher (Krystal) Thompson; grandchildren, Aubree, Paxton, Mollie, Kairi, and Aiden; her mother, Jane Ann, nee Jones Love; brother, Steven (Jessica) Love; best friends, Kelly Winston, Kim Kerkemeyer and many other loving friends.

Lois Kruescheck Holsinger, 101, of Collinsville, IL, formerly of Granite City, IL, died Wednesday, March 30, 2022, at Addington Place in Collinsville, IL
She was born on June 6, 1920 in Granite City, IL and graduated from Granite City High School in June 1938. There she was editor of the class yearbook where she had the honor of interviewing Carl Sandburg. She was a Past Honored Queen of the Job’s Daughter Bethel in Granite City and continued to be an active adviser in the Collinsville Chapter.
She married Norman W. Holsinger on June 13, 1940. They were together for 63 years before he passed away in 2003. She worked with him for 17 years at Holsinger Insurance and Real Estate Agency which had been operated for 40 years by the Holsinger family since 1938. Together they developed the first public grass green golf course in the Collinsville-Granite City area and later transitioned that project into the development of University Hills Subdivision.
Mrs. Holsinger was an active member of the Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City where she was involved in both the Harmony Class and youth Sunday School classes. Later she became an active member of the Nameoki United Methodist Church, also in Granite City. She was a member of the Leski Literary club, and was an active volunteer for many years for the United Way. She was known for her keen sense of humor, her quick wit, her style and her open-hearted generosity. She was an amazing seamstress; a wonderful cook; an amazing mother. She had a zest for life and an indomitable spirit.
She is survived by one son, Kent (Faith) Holsinger of Collinsville, IL; one daughter, Gayle (Barb) Holsinger of Collinsville IL; one sister, Arlene K. Johnson of Belleville IL; two granddaughters, Kristi (Cathy) Holsinger of St. Louis MO, and Marcy (Elisa) Holsinger of Portland, OR; one great grandson, Micah Holsinger of Portland, OR; niece Leah Johnson Manos (John) of Evanston, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Eberhardt and Etoila Kruescheck; and niece Beth Johnson Newkirk (Darrell) of Las Vegas, Nevada.
In celebration of Lois’s, life a memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Roger Russell officiating at Irwin Chapel, 3960 Maryville Road in Granite City. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorial donations are suggested to Nameoki United Methodist Church, the Missouri Botanical Gardens or to the Salvation Army.
Ross Leonard Wilson, Jr, 62, Of Granite City passed away in his home Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
He was born Bonnie (Mazzola) Wilson and the late Ross Wilson, Sr, In St. Louis, MO on January 10, 1960.
Ross is survived by his two brothers: Tom Wilson and Jeff Wilson.
Besides his father, he is preceded in death by his two sons: Daniel Wilson and Mark Wilson.

Michael “Mickey” Angelo Galati, age 44, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Christian Northeast Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Michael was born on July 15, 1977, in St. Louis, MO, a son of Angelo and Monica (King) Galati of Granite City, IL.
Michael was a loving son, grandson, brother, uncle, cousin, and a dear friend. He had great sense of humor and he enjoyed making people laugh. He loved being outdoors in the sunshine, working alongside his father on different projects, and he always had a special place in his heart for all animals. Michael was also a St. Louis Blues and St. Louis Cardinals fan.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and he cherished every moment. Michael loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He had the biggest heart and even at the end of his life he wanted to help others. That is why Michael decided to be an organ donor to help those in need. With his gifts of life, Michael was able to save the lives of two people. His family is extremely proud of him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Vincent Galati, and by a grandmother, Eunice King.
In addition to his loving parents, Michael is survived by his dear sister, Gina “Chuck” and Matt Abbott of Troy, IL; grandfather, Wesley R. (Edith) King of Springfield, IL; grandmother, Phyllis Galati of Foley, MO; proud uncle to Samantha and Brendan Abbott of Troy, IL; his childhood best friend, Randy Farley of Granite City, IL; his beloved cats, Lionel Scratchy, Punky, Ugly Missy and Smooshy; extended family and friends.

Timothy J. Schwendeman, 69 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at his home.
Tim was born on May 8, 1952 in Granite City; the son of the late Millard H. “Poots” and Diane (Thomas) Schwendeman. Tim was of Catholic faith, and was on the Granite City High School Basketball team and had attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri where he played on the golf team. Tim loved spending time with his family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.
Tim is survived by and will be missed by his sisters; Janet and Rick Vaughn of Edwardsville, IL, Karen Schwendeman of Collinsville, IL, Claudia and Joe Bartholomew of St. Louis, MO; nephews, Travis and Laura Revelle, Kyle and Meagan Revelle, Joey Bartholomew, Vinny Bartholomew; niece, Natalie and John Hadley; great-nephew, Jude Revelle; great-nieces, Lennon Revelle, Josephine Hadley, Alexandra Hadley and many other close family members and friends.

Shirley Maxine Warren, 93 of Granite City passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City.
Shirley was born on November 18, 1928 in East St. Louis, IL; the daughter of the late Sherman and Mildred (Woodward) Wright. Shirley was an office manager for SM Wilson Construction in Granite City. Shirley was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Granite City and a loving mother and grandmother to her family. Shirley will be remembered for the love of her family and all the special times they shared together.
Shirley is survived by and will be missed by her granddaughter; Sarah and Terry George Waterfield of Durham, NC; son-in-law, John D. George of Durham, NC; sister-in-law, Shirley Wright of Fairview Heights, IL; dearest friend, Nelson King of Granite City, IL and many nieces, nephews, cousins and other close family members and friends.

Janice E. Huge, 72, of Granite City, IL passed away in her home on Thursday, March 31, 2022.
She was born on September 9, 1949 in Kansas City, MO to the late Floyd and Winifred (Carter) Blum. Janice married William Huge, Jr on September 15, 1978 in Granite City, IL. Her friends say she enjoyed sitting on her front porch talking with her friends over coffee.
Janice is survived by her loving friends Beverly Conger, Angela Conger, Brittany Conger, John Hutson and many more frineds.
Besides her parents Janice is preceded in death by her husband William, a brother Ralph Blum and her beloved pet dog.

Ramona Marie Serrano, age 51, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at her sister’s home in Edwardsville, IL. Ramona was born on January 4, 1971 in Belleville, IL, a daughter of the late Frank Serrano Sr. and Lauraelise (Papin) Serrano.
Ramona was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and a dear friend. She never met a stranger, and she was always willing to lend a helping hand. She loved her job at St. Charles School District warehouse. Ramona had worked there for many years as the warehouse manager, and the employees were like Ramona’s second family.
She enjoyed watching football and going on Carnival Cruises. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and she cherished every moment she spent with them. Ramona will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, Ramona was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald, Rick, and Earl Ingram; two sisters, Toni Smith and Kim Reich; and by her mother-in-law, Debra Nance.

William L. “Bill” Davis, 88, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Stearns Nursing and Rehab in Granite City.
He was born December 6, 1933 in Paducah, Kentucky, a son of the late Vernell Clifton and Versie (Stokes) Davis.
He married Charline (Burnham) Davis on November 29, 1959 in Moscow, Kentucky and she survives.
He had worked for P.N. Hirsch in Granite City and later with Central Hardware and Sears with many years of dedicated service as an operations manager.
. He was a faithful member of Unity Baptist Church in Granite City and a member of The Waggoneers dancing and camping group. He and his wife enjoyed many years of square dancing, enjoyed his days of camping and had a very artistic talent with painting and woodworking.
In addition to his beloved wife of 63 years, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Deidre “DeeDee” and Barry Green of St. Jacob; a son, William Christopher Davis of Granite City; a grandson, Austin Green; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Davis and four sisters, Billie Bland, JoAnn Peck, Barbara Vandervelde and Betty Staley.
In celebration of his life, a memorial visitation will be held at Unity Baptist Church, 2500 St. Clair Avenue in Granite City on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until time of memorial service at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Jarad Corzine officiating.
Burial will be at Pilot Oak Cemetery in Pilot Oak, Kentucky.

Roger enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and racecars.

Charles Leo Melzer, Jr, 94, of Granite City, IL died on Sunday, March 27, 2022 at his home.
He was born on September 11, 1927 in Detroit, MI to Charles Leo Melzer, Sr and Thelma (McCullough) Melzer.
Charles married Joan Kiernan on July 22, 1950 in Altamont, IL.
The U.S. Navy veteran was a railroad engineer for many years. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Charles was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and he enjoyed golfing and bowling.
Besides his wife of 72 years, Charles is survived by 3 daughters: Pamela (Tom) Herrmann of Scottsdale, AZ, Patricia (Toby) Conn of San Diego, CA and Janice (Scott) Langa of Sarasota, FL; 3 sons: David Melzer, of Granite City,IL, Jeffery (Kandy) Melzer of Maryville, IL and Steven (Alice) Melzer of Temecula, CA; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.
Besides his parents, Charles is preceded in death by 2 brothers: Donnie Melzer and John Melzer.

Mildred Joyce Hastings, 83, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born June 13, 1938 in Owensboro, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Omar and Sadie (Childers) McGee.
She married the love of her life, Ronald C. Hastings Sr. on October 15, 1966 in East St. Louis, Illinois and he passed away on May 27, 2017.
She was a loving and dedicated homemaker whom cherished taking care of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for the love and special times shared with her family and friends.
She is survived by four children and their spouses, Kathy Boyette of Charleston, Illinois, Julia Gibbs of Granite City, Deanna and Kyle Smith of Granite City and Matthew and Marcy Yarbrough of Granite City; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Yarbrough of Granite City; twelve grandchildren; many great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; a brother, Billy McGee of Naples, Florida; two sisters, Diane Royal of Seabrook, Texas and Elizabeth Ann Upchurch of Columbia, Illinois; many nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

Raeleene Rita Rose Callender, 87, of Glen Carbon, IL died on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.
She was born on November 15, 1934 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Granite City, IL to Raymond Brown and Helen (Durer) Devany, where her mother had worked.
The loving mother and grandmother was a member of the Granite City American Legion Auxiliary and the Granite City Rotary Club. Raeleene was an Avon sales representative for many years. She was an avid reader who enjoyed trivia and socializing.
Raeleene is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth “Lisa” Callender of Glen Carbon; 2 sons: Keith Callender of Winona, MO and Drew Callender of Granite City; 15 grandchildren: Leann, Stephanie, Misty, Josh, Aaron, Michelle, Dawn, Christine, Marc, Cody, Raymond, Cory, Dana, Christie and Jennifer; several great grandchildren; a brother, George Rehmus of Hazel, KY and a nephew, Ed (Jennifer) Rehmus of Murray, KY..

Anna May Rookard, 81, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 12:30 a.m. Thurs. Mar. 17, 2022 at her home.
She was born Dec. 12, 1940 in Baltimore, MD to the late Lillian Webster Waligowski.
Survivors include: 2 daughters: Carol (Keith) Makin and Robin Preston; 2 sons: Bo (Lisa) Shreve and Billy Rookard; 23 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 daughters: Anna Fountain and Darlene Taylor.

John Joseph Vaughn, age 89, of Edwardsville, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at Stillwater Senior Living in Edwardsville, IL. John was born on June 18, 1932 in Granite City, IL, a son of the late John Richard Vaughn and Lillian E. (Berger) Vaughn.
John was a United States Navy veteran who proudly served his country with honor. He was a devoted family man who cherished every moment he spent with his family. John loved to travel and dance later in life.
He ventured over much of the US in the past 15 years. And, he never missed going out multiple days per week to dance, many times closing down the dance floor. He worked as a machinist at American Steel in Granite City, IL, for 28 years. After American Steel, John worked for the civil service and retired as a watercraft maintenance technician. John loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his second wife, Terri Morgan-Vaughn on September 26, 2013; and by his siblings, Joan Ryder and Jerry Vaughn.

Jessica Renee Scarbrough, age 21, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2022 in Pontoon Beach, IL. Jessica was born on April 19, 2000 in Granite City, IL, a daughter of Christine (Kuehl) Scarbrough of Granite City, IL and the late Heath E. Scarbrough.
Jessica had an outgoing personality who made friends easy. She loved her job at Wendy’s in Edwardsville, IL and she was recently promoted to manager. Jessica always wanted to be a teacher and she had been attending S.W.I. C. in Granite City, where she was working toward her degree to become a teacher. She enjoyed spoiling and singing to her nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Jessica loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. Jessica will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her loving mother, Jessica is survived by her dear siblings, Stephen Scarbrough, Nikkie Scarbrough and Rebeka Scarbrough all of Granite City, IL; proud aunt to Heath, Videll, Luxanna and Finis; aunts, uncle, cousins, extended family and many wonderful friends.

Mike was born July 5, 1951 in Gideon Missouri son of the late Edward W, C, and Georgia Ruth (Powell Norton.
Spent many years as a sales rep for Belkamp Tool of Louisville Ky.
Mike is survived and will be missed by his sister Anita R. Huckla of Granite City, nieces Dawna (Paul) Smith, Mary (Thad) Foreman, Darla (Phillip) Popmarkoff, nephews Alan and Blake Norton, great nieces and great nephews.

Linda G. Nelson 72 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Alton Memorial Hospital.
Linda was born on June 6, 1949 in Lilbourn, Missouri; the daughter of the late Elmer and Vina (Parmer) Nelson. Linda was a school bus driver for Granite City School District #9 and a member of City Temple Church in Granite City. In her free time Linda enjoyed her days of going to church and spending time with her family and will be remembered for all the special times she shared with her family and friends.

Mark S. Kempfer, age 62, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Sunday, January 23, 2022 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL. Mark was born on February 22, 1959 in Benton, IL, a son of the late Cecil Laverne Kempfer and Marilyn (Meyer) Kempfer.
Mark was a United States Air Force veteran who proudly served his country with honor. On December 7, 2012, Mark married Angela Agles in Edwardsville, IL. Mark retired as a truck spotter from Lazerspot after many years of dedicated service.
He was a faithful member of Hope Lutheran Church in Granite City, IL. In his younger years he attended Belleville Area College. Mark was an avid daily bible reader, talented cook and candle maker. He also enjoyed taking road trips out west with Angela in their camper, and playing with his two cavalier king charles spaniels, Cheyenne and Lady Bug. Mark was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and a cherished friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dennis Lee Wallace Sr., age 63, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at his home with his loving family by his side. Dennis was born on October 20, 1958 in Paris, TN, a son of Sharon (Matheny) Wallace Gordon and the late Corbet Wallace.
On July 29, 1976, Dennis married Tonya Shuppert, the love of his life in Corinth, MS. Dennis was a faithful member of Word of Life Tabernacle Church in Granite City, IL. He retired from Granite City Pickling as a coil operator after many years of dedicated service. Dennis was a loving son, husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and a dear friend to many.
He never met a stranger and he was always willing to lend a helping hand. Dennis enjoyed fishing, camping and playing aggravation. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Dennis loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Vicki Diane Kraus, age 69, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Monday, March 21, 2022 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL. Vicki was born on August 2, 1952 in Granite City, IL, a daughter of the late Philip and Evelyn “Ileane” (Smith) Cripps.
Vicki was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and a dear friend to many. She had an outgoing personality that was contagious and she never met a stranger. Her job as a Walmart greeter was a perfect fit for Vicki’s demeanor. She retired after many years of dedicated service.
Vicki enjoyed watching Hallmark movies and cooking delicious meals for her family on the holidays. Vicki was all about her family, and her greatest joy watching and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved life, she loved to laugh, but most of all she loved her family. Vicki will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Norma Jean Morris, 69, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 12:28 p.m. Wed. Mar. 16, 2022 at her home.
She was born Feb. 10, 1953 in Granite City to Geneva (Keil) Taylor of Granite City and the late Gene Taylor.
She married William Morris June 28, 2003 and he preceded her in death Oct. 8, 2021.
Survivors include 2 daughters: Jeanna Pinkley of Carlyle, IL and Laura Winnie of Granite City; a son: Michael Mize of Granite City; several grandchildren; a brother: Robert Brooks Sr.; and a sister: Phyllis Nance both of Granite City.
In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by a brother: Ricky Brooks; and 2 sisters: Carolyn Weathers and Patricia Hufstedler.

Jeffrey William Skinner, 62 of Ft. Gibson, Oklahoma and formerly of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2022.
Jeff was born on October 11, 1959 in Granite City. He attended grade school in Madison, IL and graduated from Granite City Sr. High School. Jeff was co-owner of Hamilos Bros. Meat Company in Madison, Illinois for years before moving to Colorado.
He recently retired from Union Pacific Railroad, and in his free time enjoyed his days riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, boating, shooting pool and watching the St. Louis Cardinals.
Jeff loved spending time with his family and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.

Robert Dippel, 81, of Granite City, IL passed away in his home Friday, March 18, 2022.
He was born on July 25, 1940 to Edward and Goldie (Skilbeck) Dippel in Breese, IL
Robert met Jennifer in New Zealand and they married on February 13, 1967
He was a member of the Nameoki United Methodist Church, and In his spare time he enjoyed watching westerns, old T.V shows and his favorite sports teams play. He also loved playing golf, working cross word and cryptogram puzzles.
Besides his wife, Robert is survived by his daughter: Kerin (Stan) Stascinsky; 2 sons: Craig (Michelle) Dippel and Brent Dippel; 3 grandchildren: Skylar Dippel, Braden Dippel and Landon Dippel; and a brother: Thomas Dippel .
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister: Carol Buss.

Harrison Eugene Mullen, 81, of Granite City, IL passed away Sunday, March 20, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to the late Harrison and Dorothy (Clonts) Mullen in a log cabin on January 13, 1941 in Steelville, MO.
Harrison served in the Marine Corp for four years before becoming a firefighter. He met Jeanne Chrismer in 1985 and they married in Granite City on May 26, 1993.
Harrison loved wood working, hunting and fishing and playing pool with his wife.
Besides his wife, Harrison is survived by 3 sons: Gerald ( Alicia) Mullen of Bowling Green, KY, Harrison William (Jennifer) Mullen of Granite City IL, Timothy (Larissa) Mullen of Granite City, IL; 4 daughters: Kiyomi Shimamoto of Okinawa, Japan, Laura Mersch of Jefferson County, MO, Kirsten (David) Foreshee of Pontoon Beach, IL, Michelle (Shawn Miller) Hansen of Granite City, IL; 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 5 sisters: Ina Mefford of Granite City, IL, Clara Wake – Green of Springfield, IL. Eula Sheehan of Las Vegas, NV, Linda Sanford of Brownsville, TX and Priscilla (Herb) Hayes of North Carolina.
Besides his parents, Harrison is preceded in death by his twin brother John E. Mullen and a grandson Dakota Ryan Chrismer.

Nancy L. Rainer, 81 of Granite City, Illinois and formerly of Madison, Illinois passed away on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Garden View Care Center in Valley Park, Missouri.
Nancy was born on March 10, 1941 in Granite City; the daughter of the late Chester and Gertrude (Bilyeu) McManaway. She graduated from Madison Senior High School Class of 1959 and went on to earn her Bachelors of Education Degree from SIU-E in 1963 and a Masters in Ed from the University of Illinois in 1967. Nancy began her 33 year teaching career with Granite City District 9 at Wilson School where she taught 5th grade from 1963 to 1968 and then taught 4th and 5th grades at Frohardt School from 1968 until her retirement in 1996.
She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, the American and Illinois Federation of Teachers, and the Granite City Federation of Teachers. Nancy was a member of Unity Baptist Church and a 48 year member of Third Baptist Church in Granite City. In her free time, Nancy enjoyed her days working word search puzzles, shopping, going to lunch with her girlfriends, and killing plants. Most of all, Nancy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and will be remembered for all the special times they shared together.

Rebecca “Bekki” Jean Miller, 70, of Jupiter, Florida and St. Louis, Missouri passed away at 8:12 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Jupiter, FL after a two year battle with ovarian cancer.
She was born June 12, 1951 in East Alton, IL, the daughter of Harold Maynard Jr., and Ruth (Springs) Maynard of Granite City, IL. She is survived by her husband, Roger D. Miller whom she married on January 12, 1973.
In addition to her beloved husband she is survived by her wonderful daughter and son-in-law Stephanie (Miller) Winslow and Marshall Winslow of Jupiter, FL, the lights of her life, granddaughters Cora and Lydia Winslow; sister Carol (Maynard) Lindsay of Granite City, IL; brother and sister-in-law Rev. Mark Maynard and Jill (Page) Maynard of Granite City, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Philip and Wendy Miller of Granite City, IL, brother-in-law Gary Miller of Granite City; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Carolyn (Miller) Richard Freeman of Granite City, IL; brother-in-law Jeffery Miller of Granite City, IL; many nieces and nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her son, Zach Miller of St. Louis, MO; parents, Rev. Harold and Ruth Maynard and Elmer and Ruby Miller of Granite City, IL. and her brother-in-law, Roger “Jim” Lindsay.
In college, Bekki majored in Elementary Education and minored in Business. She graduated in three years from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. After graduation Bekki taught 4th and 5th grades for thirteen years. Bekki left teaching to join her husband Roger as Executive Vice President of their business Gateway Packaging Company which manufactured flexible packaging for human food and pet food. She and Roger operated the business together for nearly thirty years. Gateway was sold to private equity in 2010. At that time Bekki became the CEO of Flopak, another of their family businesses that manufactured and distributed packaging to the floral industry. Flopak was sold in 2016 at which time Bekki retired.
Bekki was an active participant in her church’s children’s ministry, teaching Sunday School for over fifty years. She was an accomplished pianist, organist and vocalist. She loved playing church hymns but delighted many friends and family with her ability to play big band and pop music.
She was engaged with various charities and extended kindness through the countless personalized cards she mailed to remind those around her that they were remembered and loved. Her tender heart and gentleness enabled her to win the hearts of all who knew her. Her selfless love was the fuel for her incredible hospitality. She loved being Grammy to Cora and Lydia. They were the delight and joy of her life.
Bekki will be remembered for her meek temperament and glowing smile.

Courtney Ann Blind, age 41, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at Granite Nursing and Rehab Center. Courtney was born on May 5, 1980 in St. Louis, MO, a daughter of Shirley (Piechocinski) Blind and the late Keith Blind.
Courtney was a loving daughter, sister and a dear friend to many. She enjoyed playing video games and hanging out with her friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. Courtney will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Johnny married Mindy Krug in Granite City, IL on July 2, 1976.
The loving husband, father and PaPaw was a member of the Granite City Moose Lodge and a member of the Granite City Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed music and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Juanita P. Thompson, 87. passed away March 2, 2022 in Granite City.
Born August 15, 1934 in San Antonio, TX, the daughter of Tomas and Jesusita (Rosales) Perez.
Juanita lived in San Antonio, Wood River, Hartford, Bethalto, Alton and Granite City.
She taught in the Harlandale School District in San Antonio for 35 years and the became a substitute in Wood River and Cottage Hills for 2 years.
A devout Catholic who attended both St. Bernard Church (presently Holy Angels Parish) in Wood River and Our Lady Queen of Peace in Bethalto for over 40 years. She and her husband of 44 years, Kenneth E. Thompson where married June 26, 1969 in San Antonio. He died on March 24, 2013.
Surviving are her children, Fr. Stephen A. Thompson, a Roman Catholic priest in the Diocese of Springfield in Illinois, Jennifer A. Thompson (engaged to, Michael Buttry); grandchildren, Jordan C. Hurd, Kennedi E. Koetzle and Nathaliah Buttry; and sister, Francesca Lopez.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Bertha Perez, Dolores Quintero, Beatrice Castillo, Mary Ann Perez, Ascension Perez and Tomas Perez, Jr.

Lacy Wayne Milton, 89, of Granite City passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born August 2, 1932 in Granite City. He married Wanda (nee: Shelby) Milton in August of 1964. He owned and operated Lacy’s Vending in Granite City. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the American Legion Post 113 and the VFW Post 1300, both in Granite City. He enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables as well as cooking.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debra Rogers; son, James Rogers; brothers, Bill and Dale Love; sisters, Shirley and Helen and a grandchild, John Hampton II.

David Keith Mayo, 68, of Granite City, passed away Monday, March 7, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born July 25, 1953 in East St. Louis to the late Thomas and Alice ( Fowler) Mayo.

Delores D. “Darlene” Sebesak, 86 of Granite City, Illinois passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at her home.
Darlene was born on September 24, 1935 in Bourbon, Missouri; the daughter of the late Asa and Beulah (Brown) Delcour.
Darlene was an Inspector for the Ramsey Corporation and enjoyed her days of attending Holy Family Catholic Church in Granite City with her husband Joe. Darlene love to spend her days at home and truly cherished her time with her family. Darlene will be remembered for her kind heart and all the special times she shared with her family and friends.
Darlene is survived by and will be missed by her sisters; Janet Kromray of Granite City, Illinois, Deanna and Gary Hunter of Bourbon, Missouri; brother, Stanley and Sandy Delcour of Belleville, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews and other close family members and friends.
In addition to her parents, Darlene was preceded in death by her husband; Joseph P. Sebesak whom she married on September 20, 1969; her brother, Don Delcour and her sister, Nedra Diehl.

LeAnn Gergen, age 61, of Granite City, IL, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022 at her home. LeAnn was born on January 29, 1961 in Mt. Vernon, IL, a daughter of the late Ronald and Marilyn (Cowger) Galbraith.
On December 21, 1979, LeAnn Galbraith married Christopher Zene Gergen, the love of her life in Edwardsville, IL, and Christopher passed away on March 18, 2008. LeAnn will be remembered as a loving mother, sister, aunt, great-aunt and a dear friend to many. She never met a stranger and she was always willing to lend a helping hand.
LeAnn had a special love for all animals and she enjoyed spoiling her fur babies, Tobey and Ginger. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, whom she loved dearly. LeAnn will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Vernon Adrian “Vern” Pumphrey, 87 of Granite City, Illinois passed away at his home on Saturday, March 5, 2022.
Vern was born on September 6, 1934 in Broseley, Missouri; the son of the late John and Ada (Golden) Pumphrey. Vern was an entrepreneur and spent the last 25 years working for LE Smith Jewelry. He served his country in the United States Army. In his free time Vern enjoyed traveling with his family, his garden, meeting his buddies, watching Jeopardy, and watching sports, sports, and sports.
Vern will be remembered for the love of his family, their unbreakable bond and all the special times they shared together.
Vern is survived by and will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years; Sondra (Bosworth) Pumphrey, whom he married on January 20, 1962; daughter, Adrienne Pumphrey; granddaughter, Lexi Duncan and numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many close friends.

Carol G. Hildebrand, 80 of Granite City, IL and formerly of Madison, IL passed away peacefully at Cedarhurst Senior Living in Edwardsville, IL on March 4, 2022.
Carol was born on July 14, 1941 in Granite City, IL; the daughter of the late Walter and Louise (Wallen) Cook of Madison, IL. Carol was a junior high school teacher for the Granite City School District from 1963 until her retirement in 1995.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Granite City and a member of the New Hope Chapter 432 order of the Eastern Star where she served as Worthy Matron in 1967.
Carol was a member and a local leader of the Granite City Federation of Teachers Local 743. After retiring from teaching, Carol spent over a decade supporting the development of new teachers through her work with the Department of History at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. In her free time she enjoyed her days of taking care of her granddaughter, Mayleigh, and chasing around her two dachshunds. Her greatest love was her family. She will be remembered for her joy in Mayleigh, her caring for her son-in-law, and the strength and humor she showed in raising her children. Her favorite song to sing with Mayleigh was “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.” She believed in helping others, showing patience and caring, and standing up against injustice wherever she found it.
Carol is survived by and will be missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Brett Alsop of Granite City, IL; son Regan Hildebrand of Granite City, IL and her granddaughter, Mayleigh Alsop.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death in 1982 by her husband, Melvin Hildebrand, whom she married on May 22, 1970.
In celebration of Carol’s life, a private family service will be held at a later date where she will be laid to rest with her husband at Sunset Hill Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon.

Thomas was a loving son, father, brother, grandfather, uncle and a dear friend to many. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, camping, watching the eagles soar thru the sky and taking his Yamaha on long rides. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. Joseph “Joe” Robert Harris, age 89 of Granite City, IL, passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL. Joe was born on September 16, 1932 in Dover, TN, a son of the late Elvis and Bessie (Anglin) Harris.
On September 22, 1956, Joe married Wanda Kay Smith, the love of his life in Granite City, IL. Joe was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Granite City, IL. He retired from National Lead as a crane man after many years of dedicated service. Joe enjoyed being outdoors, camping, fishing and working in his garden on a beautiful day. Joe was also a talented musician who could play any string instrument. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Joe was a devoted family man who cherished every moment he spent with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Harris and Elsie Hooper; and by a brother, Edward “Levi” Harris.

Jason Mayes, 47, of Ava, IL passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 in Caseyville, IL
He was born on October 2, 1974 to Susie (Yeager) Mayes and the late Dennis Eugene Mayes in Granite City, IL. Jason owned Jason’s Tree Service, a business he was very proud of. When he wasn’t working, he spent his time riding and repairing motorcycles; he always had a project bike to work on. He also rode and trained horses with his sons, Jenny being his favorite horse he owned.
Besides his mother, Jason is survived by his 3 sons: Tyler James Mayes of Belleville, Triston Christopher Mayes of Granite City and Auston Levi Mayes of Granite City; and a sister Amberly Duke of Granite City.
Jason’s family is certain he was met at Heavens gates by his father and his uncles Travis Mayes and Ron Whitt.

Sheila Dawn Crockarell Mancell of Granite City, Illinois passed away in her sleep at the age of 59. She was born in Granite City.
Sheila was a very unique spirit, sometimes hard to read and masked with partying. Yet she had more love than a lot of people realized. As of this week, Sheila is no longer in fear of letting that love out. May she forever be remembered for her strengths and not of her weaknesses and may she rest in peace.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia A. Abernathy. Albert “Larry” Detto passed away at the age of 78 on Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL. Larry was born on December 2, 1943 in Collinsville, IL, a son of the late Albert Larry Detto and Roberta “Dolly” Detto.
Larry was a devoted family man who cherished every moment he spent with his family. He worked as a painter for Gateway Regional Medical Center and SSM Heath Services, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Larry enjoyed taking long rides on his Harley and meeting up with his friends (The Buffet Riders) every Wednesday at Hardees in Collinsville, IL.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Larry loved life, he loved to laugh, but most of all he loved his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Sandy Detto of Granite City, IL; loving step-daughters, Kim (Mike) Charbonnier of Granite City, IL and Jayme (Steve Becker) Wilson of Granite City, IL; proud step-grandfather to Brady Charbonnier, Chris (Cassie Sisk) Wilson and Kyle Becker; motorcycle riding buddy John “Doc” Antonovich and extended family and many wonderful friends.

Lori B. King Thompson, 57, of Granite City, IL, passed away at 4:10 a.m. Thurs. Mar. 3, 2022 at South Lawn Shelter Care in Bunker Hill, IL.
She was born Mar. 19, 1964 in Joliet, IL to Nelson C. King of Granite City and the late Betty (Fitzer) King. Lori loved bingo and listening to classic rock on KSHE95, especially Led Zeppelin.
She loved her family, friends and her cat, “Alice”. Lori had received her Associate degree from B.A.C. and became an LPN. She was of the Baptist faith and had professed her salvation in Jesus Christ.
In addition to her father, she is survived by 4 brothers: Jon (Mary Jo) King of St. Louis, MO, Jay King of Glen Carbon, IL, Jac (Rita Ann) King of Edwardsville, IL and Jol (Karol) King of O’Fallon, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

Edward Allen Robertson Jr., 54, of Granite City, Illinois passed away at 11:29 a.m on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.
He was born June 9, 1967 in St. Louis, Missouri, a son of Edward Allen Robertson Sr. and Myra L. (Willaredt) Cook.
He married Brenda (Hodson) Robertson on March 1, 2004 in Hermann, Missouri and she survives.
He had worked as a police officer in Granite City for several years and also as a dispatcher and security officer throughout Missouri and Colorado. He was an avid NASCAR fan and car enthusiast. He will be remembered for the love and special times shared with his family and friends.
In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his mother and stepfather, Myra L. and Terry Cook of Granite City; his father, Edward Allen Robertson Sr. of Highland; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lauren Robertson and Joe Huddleston of Mahomet, Illinois and Kristen and Justin Kichler of Granite City; a grandbaby on the way; a brother, Jay Robertson of Highland; other extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Robertson; a sister-in-law, Erica Robertson and his grandparents, Ray and Marion Willaredt and Dudley and Alene Robertson.

He was born on July 28, 1967 in St. Louis, MO the late Wilford Baker and Anna (Strauss) Brimm
Ronald met Christina Moore in 1990, they married July 6, 2007 in Edwardsville, IL. They spent 32 years together.
Ronald worked for R. K Stratman Printing for many years. When he wasn’t working, he loved spending time with his family and friends, collecting Hot Wheels and shooting and collecting guns.
He is survived by his wife Christina Baker of Granite City; a son: Ronald Baker of Granite City; and a sister: Cindy Lupardus of Granite City.
Besides his parents, Ronald is preceded in death by 2 sisters: Shirley Creek and Jeanne Caudill, and a brother: Michael Baker.
