A Granite City teen’s family is counting their blessings after a serious accident on the Poplar Street Bridge turned into a powerful reminder of faith, safety, and community support.

Landon, who had just turned 17, was on his way to dinner with his girlfriend when their vehicle was involved in a crash that shut down the interstate and left their car totaled. Miraculously, both teens walked away with only minor bruises and scratches, a testament to quick action, divine protection, and the life-saving power of seat belts.

“The police and hospital staff all said the seat belts literally saved their lives,” said Landon’s mother, who shared the story on social media. She also expressed deep gratitude for a doctor who happened to be nearby and pulled over to help the teens out of the car, staying with them until emergency responders arrived.
