As summer winds down and the school year begins, the Granite City community once again proves that generosity and compassion are alive and well. For many families, the start of a new school year brings excitement—but also financial strain. From purchasing supplies to preparing for early mornings, the transition can be challenging. Thankfully, our residents and neighboring communities have stepped up in a big way.

Through summer lunch programs, local churches, and community organizations, support for children in need has been both widespread and heartfelt. This year, hundreds of students received fully stocked backpacks filled with essential school supplies, thanks to the kindness of those who gave.
Folders, crayons, notebooks, scissors, glue, and markers were handed out by the thousands.

These supplies not only equip students for academic success but also help instill confidence and a positive outlook as they head into the classroom. Being well-prepared makes the shift from carefree summer days to structured school routines smoother and less stressful.

To everyone who contributed—whether through donations, volunteering, or spreading the word, we thank you. Your generosity has made a meaningful difference in the lives of many children, setting the stage for a successful and hopeful school year.

Granite City continues to shine as a community that cares deeply for its youngest members. Let’s keep the momentum going.
