Granite City School District #9 brought together some of its brightest young scholars this week as students from across the district competed in the annual Elementary Spelling Bee, hosted Wednesday at Prather Elementary School. Finalists from each elementary building advanced to the districtwide competition, creating a spirited and supportive atmosphere for both the 3rd/4th grade and 5th/6th grade divisions.

Families, teachers, and administrators filled the room as students stepped to the microphone one by one, demonstrating weeks of preparation, steady nerves, and an impressive command of vocabulary. The event highlighted not only academic achievement but also the confidence and sportsmanship of every participant.
