Senior Sunrise 2025, A Radiant Start for GCHS Seniors
GraniteCityGossip.com, August 18, 2025

As the sun crested the horizon on August 14th, the Class of 2026 at Granite City High School gathered in the early morning light to celebrate a beloved GCHS tradition, the Senior Sunrise. This annual event marks the beginning of the final chapter in their high school journey, offering a moment of reflection, unity, and excitement for the year ahead.
Held on the first day of school, the Senior Sunrise was beautifully documented by BC Photography, capturing candid smiles, group hugs, and the golden glow of dawn. Students arrived dressed in custom “Senior Sunrise” proudly displaying their class spirit.
The event was organized by the GCHS Student Council, who also promoted a shirt sale in advance to ensure every senior could participate in style. From heartfelt conversations to spontaneous laughter, the morning was filled with energy and emotion.
The tradition of Senior Sunrise is more than symbolic—it’s a rite of passage. It gives students a chance to pause and appreciate how far they’ve come, while looking ahead to the milestones yet to come: college applications, senior prom, graduation, and the bittersweet goodbyes. Granite City residents have long supported local students through events like this. As seen in recent community efforts to provide school supplies and emotional support, the Senior Sunrise is part of a larger story of civic pride and youth empowerment in Granite City.
