Meet Rachel Roy, the 2008 Patriots In the Park High School Essay winner. Rachel is a highly accomplished young lady with an extremely impressive school career. In her sophomore year she was a member of the Young Authors' Club and her poetry was published in GCHS's Student Voice. During her junior year she was a novice debater and actively involved in the Social Studies Club. Also during her junior year, she was an ALPHA (Adolescents Learning Positive Health Alternative) Leader, and was initiated in the National Honor Society. |

In her senior year she continued in the National Honor Society and the ALPHA Peer Leader program. Also, she joined the Freshman Mentor Program and Warriors Guiding Warriors. As for honors, again they are very impressive. She was summa cum laude at GCHS, as well as, part of the Greater Belleville Youth Salute Program. She earned an exceeds on the PSAE for science, and was Rotary Student of the Month and Elks' Student of the Month. Throughout her four years at Granite City High School she was a member of the Varsity Bowling Team, and was captain during her junior year. Congratulations Rachel, you've made Granite City proud!
