Happy January and Happy New Year! Have you been wondering where we have been? Every January we take a few days away from the website to decompress from our busy December. But now we are back and ready to spread the good word about all that is going on in our great city! Please welcome GraniteCityGossip.com's newest sponsor, GRANITE CITY TAX SERVICE. A locally owned & operated tax service that is ready to prepare your taxes this year, same day service available in many cases. Please click their banner for all of their information and give them a call today. We also have the year's first Pet Vaccination Clinic at Rural KIng coming up. Scroll below for information and prices. Dr. Fischer and staff will be on hand for all your pet's vaccination needs. Save the date for the Super Bowl Party at the Knights of Columbus Hall. It looks like a great time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the village mayor and trustees, the members of Nameoki United Methodist Church, all first responders, the animal rescue volunteers, those who helped fill sandbags and all involved during the recent flooding in Pontoon Beach. |

With the prediction of the season's first accumulating snow for this weekend, we thought of no better time to take a trip down memory lane to the summer days of our childhood at the old Wilson Park pool! We can almost hear "Locomotion" piping down from the observation pavilion! We remember running and dunking in the Kiddie Pool to warm up if we got cold. Oh, do we remember the swim caps! And at the end of the day, nothing filled our growling bellies like a hot dog and popcorn from the cart that was always out front of the bath house. This picture is courtesy of Wilson Park, and is circa 1970. Actually I think that is us hanging out on the far wall! :) |
Transportation teams volunteered at the Granite City Community Care Center, sorting and stocking clothing donations & organizing and prepping food bank items. Thanks to all! |
SEE YOU AT THE COLLINSVILLE RURAL KING! |
