But don't let that stop you from joining in the many activities and events that will be happening this month. Check out the "Dance Clinic" event being sponsored by the GCHS Dance Team, and don't forget that "Elvis" is coming to town! We have trivia nights this month, all for worthy causes. And the Annual Spooktacular Event is just around the corner, along with the last Melting Pot Market of the season, the Iron Pour event and a brand new event for the downtown area..."The Cutting Room" Haunted House which will be in the old YMCA building! Don't forget to pick up a dozen of your favorite tacos at the Eagles event in a few weeks, every taco sold helps our local Granite City APA take care of our furry friends! There is a free gospel concert series, a great Family Fun Night and much, much more...And goooooo football Warriors! It's October in Granite City...the best hometown in the world! |

GraniteCityGossip.com says "hats off" to Brenda Whitaker How many people do you know who could pull off a "hat trick" of community events, plus one, in a single weekend? Not many, right? None? Then you must not know Alderwoman Brenda Whitaker who did just that. She coordinated and executed four major community based events this past weekend, in addition to running her restaurant business, the Garden Gate Tea Room. Brenda and her non-profit organization "Alfresco Productions" sponsored the "Spooktacular" Halloween event, the final Melting Pot Market of the season, the 2nd Annual Iron Pour and launched her latest project, The Cutting Room Haunted House at the YMCA! Brenda is not only a visionary, but a planner, a coordinator and hands on, from inception to completion! Her dedication and resolve is unmatched and Brenda's continuous effort works wonderfully with the vision of our fine mayor, and together they are putting feet on the pavement in downtown once again! Her Blue Collar Blues BBQ Festival, among her other countless projects for our town is truly making downtown the arts & entertainment district of Granite City. |
Thank you Brenda Whitaker (and Daisy)! |
