Happy June Granite City!
Wow, is there ever a lot going on this month in our fine home town!
The first official day of summer is June 21, it is also the longest day of the year.
With summer comes vacation bible school, and Suburban Baptist's starts on June 6th.
The GCHS 1981 Class Reunion is this month, check out their planned festivities.
Don't forget to enter your fuzzy friend in the "Patriot Paws" costumed dog competition to be
held during the 4th of July celebration.  And a heads up, Mame is coming to town this month.  
And this is just the tip of the iceberg, read on everyone...
it's summer time in Granite City!
The Edwardsville Municipal Band,
under the direction of James Kerfoot, will present its first concert of the summer
season on Thursday, June 9th, at 8:00 p.m. at the  Cleaon Etzkorn Bandstand in
City Park by the library, 112 S. Kansas Street, Edwardsville.  
All concerts are free to the public.
This concert will feature music from Tchaikovsky to Rossini.
This week's concession stand is operated by the Edwardsville High School Band
Boosters and all proceeds will go to the Joplin, Missouri High School Band Boosters
as they recover from the effects of a devastating tornado.
Meet Patriots In The Park 2011 Essay Winner Lindsay Smith

Lindsay Smith is a member of the National Honor Society.  She played varsity softball her freshman year.  
The first three years she played volleyball, varsity the last year.  All four years she played varsity
basketball.  Her freshman year she was a member of Varsity Club.  Her freshman and sophomore years
she was a member of Photography Club.  The past three years she has been on Renaissance and a
member of Varsity Club, for which she is an officer this year.  All four years she has been a member of
Hockey Club and FCA.  This year she has been an Alpha Peer Leader and a Guidance Office Worker.  
Lindsay plans to attend SIUE and major in Pre-Dentistry.
